Our Verdict
The Patagonia Women’s Nano-Air Light Jacket is a “put on and leave on” layer; the combination of 40g light breathable insulation with an air-permeable 30-denier shell makes a lot of sense for cold, active days. At 293g (Medium), it provides useful warmth without feeling like a traditional insulated jacket, while the stretchy fabrics and articulated cut should make it particularly comfortable for hiking and scrambling.
The DWR-treated outer will deal with light moisture, but breathability takes priority over wind and rain resistance, so I’d still want a shell in exposed conditions.
The pocket layout is practical, with two zipped hand pockets and a zipped chest pocket that also doubles as a stuff sack. Low-profile cuffs and a clean hem keep the overall design simple, with very little unnecessary bulk.
