Our Verdict
The main appeal of the Flextail Zero Power 5K Metal is its magnetic attachment, although your phone or case must also be magnetically compatible for it to connect securely. It sits securely against a compatible phone or case, while the short integrated USB-C cable keeps everything together without a separate lead running into your pocket. The magnetic connection does not provide wireless charging.
At 100g and just 7.1mm thick, it is easy to store alongside a phone in a chest pocket or small electronics pouch. The 5,000mAh battery has a rated capacity of 3,232mAh, making it better suited to charging a phone overnight, while smaller devices such as a smartwatch, GPS, headtorch or satellite communicator should top up more quickly.
A button and clear LED indicators also make checking the remaining charge straightforward. It uses the classic four-bar charge indicator; it’s simple and easy to read, although it gives you less certainty when planning how much power is left for the rest of a trip.
Great for day walks when you might need a little extra juice, as well as quick overnight camping trips when you don't need to keep all of your electronics topped up.
