Our Verdict
At 132g (UK 12), the Patagonia Women’s L/S Capilene Cool Trail Shirt is a lightweight option for hiking, travel and general active use. The recycled-polyester and Naia Renew fabric has a soft, cotton-like feel, while still moving moisture and drying much faster than a conventional cotton top.
The relaxed stretch, raglan sleeves and underarm gussets allow plenty of movement without the shirt pulling across the shoulders. The tag-free neck is another small detail that improves comfort over longer days.
It breathes well during steady walking, although the softer fabric is not quite as fast drying as the lightest synthetic running tops when fully soaked. Its understated appearance also works well as a pyjama top or clean town shirt on multi-day hikes.
