An extension of the Alhena family this hoodie utilises the same extremely comfortable drirelease® WOOL and recycled polyester blended fabric, finished with POLYGIENE® permanent odour treatment in a new hoodie silhouette. Constructed with merrow stitched seams the fabrics provide ultimate moisture management and comfort. The hoodie style has a relaxed fit for airflow on hot summer days with a cross over hood for additional cover-up. The premium build and lightweight comfortable fabric make this an ideal hoodie for summer evenings or additional protection on hot mountain days.
Our Verdict
The Montane Alhena Hoodie uses drirelease WOOL, an engineered mix of recycled polyester, merino wool and elastane designed to combine quick drying with a softer next-to-skin feel. With just 11% merino, this is not a traditional wool baselayer; most of the fabric is synthetic, which helps move moisture and dry considerably faster while still retaining some of merino’s comfort. Polygiene treatment also helps with odour control over repeated use.
The fit is deliberately relaxed, which I think suits its warm-weather role. It allows more airflow around the body and gives the hoodie a less restrictive feel than a close-fitting base layer. The crossover hood adds useful coverage around the head and neck, while the deep cuffs and simple construction keep things comfortable.
At 236g (UK 12), it is heavier than many lightweight summer hoodies, so the appeal here is more about comfort, moisture management and coverage than outright weight saving.
