Our Verdict
The Topo Athletic Ultraventure 5 GTX combines a roomy toe box with a secure midfoot and heel, giving plenty of space for the toes.
The 35mm heel stack and ZipFoam midsole provide plenty of cushioning for long days, while the 5mm drop keeps the ride feeling balanced. At 309g per UK8 shoe, it also remains relatively light for a waterproof trail shoe.
GORE-TEX Invisible Fit provides the waterproofing, while the Vibram Megagrip outsole gives the shoe a much more convincing setup for wet rock, roots and mixed trails.
