Boot-like protection with far more cushioning underfoot

Our Verdict
At 425g per shoe (UK8), the Topo Athletic Trailventure 3 GTX feels much more like a traditional hiking boot in its protection and stability, but with noticeably more cushioning underfoot.
The ZipFoam midsole, 33mm heel stack, and full-length rock plate offer plenty of protection on rough ground while keeping the underfoot feel well cushioned. I also like Topo’s usual fit: more room through the toe box, with a secure heel and midfoot.
I’m pleased to see the move to GORE-TEX Invisible Fit for this version, giving it a cleaner, less bulky waterproof construction while keeping the fit closer to what Topo users expect.
The Vibram Megagrip outsole and external heel counter add security on wet, technical ground. It isn't especially light, but the cushioning and support make the weight feel well justified on longer, rougher days.
