Meet the ThruBottle 1000 - an ultralight one liter bottle with a 28mm neck that is designed to be reused, with a few upgrades.
The ThruBottle 1000 is the same slim 1 liter bottle made of safe-to-reuse HDPE as our V1, but weighs only 63 grams and features a much more squeezable body. Now assembled in the US with US components, the ThruBottle 1000 features more prominent embossed measurement lines that won’t rub off and an updated tie loop.
This bottle is designed with ultralight backpackers in mind and is constructed from safe, durable materials intended for long-term use - even through long periods of sun exposure and rough conditions.
The ThruBottle utilizes the same universal thread as the Vecto, ensuring its 28mm neck will be compatible with a wide range of 28mm filters.
Our Verdict
The updated ThruBottle improves on an already strong design in a few meaningful ways. At just 62g, it sheds a significant amount of weight from the original version while retaining the same slim profile that fits neatly into pack side pockets. The softer body is the standout upgrade, making it much easier to use with filters such as the Sawyer Squeeze and Platypus QuickDraw, while still feeling durable enough for long-term use.
The embossed measurement markings are another welcome improvement. They're easier to read, won't wear away over time, and make it simple to judge remaining water or measure the correct amount for dehydrated meals. I also continue to appreciate the neutral taste and universal 28mm compatibility.
The bottle remains quite tall, so refilling under low taps can still be awkward. Aside from that, this update improves almost every aspect of the original without changing what made it so useful in the first place.
