An extremely light 1mm guyline for trimming the last few grams from an ultralight shelter.

Guyline weight adds up across a shelter. ThruLine 1 mm is roughly one quarter the weight of our 1.8 mm Reflective Cord. Its UHMWPE and high-tenacity polyester co-braid balances strength, low mass, and handling.
Internal tests measured over 60 lb knotted breaking strength and 90 lb straight-line. Knotted strength is the more useful field number because guyline is usually terminated with a knot, and that knot is often the limiting point. Use knots and hardware that grip 1 mm cord. Not for climbing, suspension, rescue, or life-safety use.
Our Verdict
At just 6g for 15.24m, the Thru Line is aimed squarely at lightweight tent and tarp setups where every gram matters. Despite its 1mm diameter, the UHMWPE and polyester construction has a knotted breaking strength of over 60lb, which is more than enough for typical guyline duties.
The trade-off is handling. Cord this thin is more fiddly to work with, particularly with cold hands or gloves, and it may not grip properly in line-locks designed for thicker cord, so I would check compatibility before replacing an existing setup. SwissPiranha Line Runners are spec’d for 1mm cord.
For a lightweight trekking-pole tent or tarp, though, the weight saving can add up across multiple guylines. It also packs down to virtually nothing, making it handy as spare cord in a repair kit.
