Our Verdict
At 164g (Medium), the Inov8 Stormshell Jacket V2 combines a 20,000mm waterproof rating with a small packed size that fits easily into a race vest or daypack. The revised NaturalFit cut gives more room through the shoulders and torso, while the close-fitting adjustable hood stays secure in wind.
The Pertex Shield fabric feels softer and less restrictive than many lightweight shells, although condensation will still build during hard efforts. Storage is limited to a single chest pocket, and the 2.5-layer construction is better suited to light packs than regular use beneath a heavy rucksack.
It works best for fell running, trail races and fast hiking where low weight and compact weather protection matter most.
