Our Verdict
The BioLite Range 500 Headlamp gets the fundamentals right. At 75g, it sits comfortably on the head and remains impressively stable when moving quickly, thanks to the low-profile design and moisture-wicking headband. Rather than feeling front-heavy, the weight distribution helps it disappear into the background once adjusted.
The 500-lumen output provides plenty of light for hiking, trail running and camp use, while the beam pattern strikes a sensible balance between close-range visibility and spotting the trail ahead. I also like the rapid charging system. Being able to add a useful amount of runtime from a short charge is a practical feature for multi-day trips.
The integrated battery means carrying a power bank makes more sense than spare batteries
