Multiple zipped pockets and water bottle storage give plenty of space for your trail essentials, without the hindrance of a backpack. With a bungee compression system keeping the pack close to your body and reliably stable, it’s ideal for day hiking and shorter bike rides.
Our Verdict
At 273g, the Rab Protium 6 Belt Pack gives you 6 litres of storage in a simple, low-bulk format. I like the layout: a main compartment for spare layers or food, a small internal zipped pocket, a front mesh pocket and two 500ml bottle holders.
The pre-curved shape and forward-pull adjustment make it easy to get a snug fit, while the bungee compression helps keep the load from shifting once packed. The bottle holders make day walks more practical. It is best for short hikes, fast walks and light days when you don't need a full backpack.
