An electronic emergency whistle with automatic signalling when you need to attract attention.
Nitecore says:
The NITECORE NWE10 Electronic Outdoor Whistle delivers up to 126 dB and supports one-button continuous signalling. Weighing just 38g (1.34 oz), it offers up to 80 hours of runtime and operates reliably in temperatures as low as -40°C (-40°F). Equipped with SOS and BEACON modes, it is designed for a wide range of outdoor scenarios, including outdoor communication, location signalling, race support, and emergency distress signalling.
Our Verdict
The Nitecore NWE10 produces up to 126dB and, unlike a conventional whistle, does not rely on you repeatedly blowing into it. I tested it in the warehouse and managed to scare half the team, so I can confirm it's loud enough. More importantly, the SOS and Beacon modes can continue signalling if you are injured, exhausted or need to concentrate on something else.
The claimed 80-hour runtime, IPX7 waterproofing and built-in clip mean it can happily stay tethered to the outside of your pack.
I still like the simplicity of a normal whistle, but the hands-free emergency signalling gives this a clear purpose beyond simply being louder.
