Our Verdict
The Patagonia Nano-Air Light Vest is designed for active use, and I think its breathability is its main strength. The 40g FullRange insulation adds enough warmth to take the edge off cool conditions, while the air-permeable shell allows excess heat to escape during sustained climbs.
The stretch fabric and low-profile quilting give it an unrestricted feel around the shoulders, and the slim cut layers neatly beneath a waterproof and over a baselayer. Two zipped hand pockets and a chest pocket provide practical storage without adding much bulk, while the vest packs into the chest pocket when not needed.
At 213g (Medium), it is light for a fully featured insulated vest. It offers some protection in the wind and is a good put-on-and-leave-on layer.
