An ultralight merino beanie that is easy to keep with you year-round.
Fjallraven says:
Stay warm during cold-weather adventures, whether skiing, cycling, or exploring the outdoors, with the Bergtagen Merino Beanie. Made from 100% traceable merino wool, its low-profile design fits comfortably under a helmet, while the soft, insulating fabric naturally manages moisture, making it perfect to wear alone or layered under headgear.
Our Verdict
At 25g (S/M), the Fjällräven Bergtagen Merino Beanie is the sort of hat I’d leave permanently in a hipbelt pocket or rucksack lid. It packs down incredibly small, weighs next to nothing and gives enough warmth for active use without feeling bulky.
I like the 100% merino construction here. It feels soft against the skin, manages moisture well and dries quickly, while the close, low-profile fit sits neatly beneath a helmet or hood.
It is not the hat I’d choose for maximum warmth in really cold conditions, but for hiking, climbing or carrying as a lightweight backup, I think the balance of breathability, packability and simple Fjällräven styling works very well.
