Our Verdic
At 158g (UK12), the Patagonia Capilene Thermal Weight Zip Neck offers a noticeable step up in warmth while remaining well suited to active use. The Polartec Power Grid fabric has a smooth outer face and lofted grid interior, helping trap warmth without feeling overly bulky beneath other layers.
The deep front zip is the standout feature for me, giving far more control over ventilation during harder climbs, while the close but non-compressive fit keeps moisture management effective. Offset shoulder seams, underarm gussets and low-bulk construction also help reduce rubbing beneath a rucksack.
I also like the thumb loops, which keep the sleeves secure and add a little extra hand coverage.
