Our Verdict
At 352g (Medium), the Patagonia 2026 Retro Pile Vest uses thick double-sided pile for soft, comfortable warmth. The stand-up collar adds useful coverage, while the two zipped hand pockets and chest pocket provide practical storage.
The sleeveless design makes it easier to layer and improves freedom of movement, though the fleece remains fairly bulky and may flatten beneath rucksack straps.
It is a classic casual layer that works well for everyday wear, campsites, travel and relaxed walks where core warmth matters more than low weight.
