Our Verdict
At 442g (Medium), the Patagonia 2026 R2 TechFace Jacket combines a high-loft interior with a smooth outer face that adds useful wind, abrasion and light-rain resistance. The stretch fabric allows easy movement, while the low-profile cuffs sit neatly beneath gloves.
The pocket layout is practical, with one zipped chest pocket, two raised hand pockets and two internal drop pockets. The external pockets remain accessible with a rucksack hipbelt or harness.
It is bulky to carry and can feel too warm during sustained climbs, while the fixed hood and hem offer little adjustment. It works best as a put-on-and-leave-on layer for cold winter walks, scrambling, or climbing.
