Our Verdict
The Mountain Equipment Eclipse Hooded Jacket is a well-fitting technical piece, good for most activities year-round. Its Pontetorto Tecnostretch grid fleece moves moisture effectively, dries quickly and provides useful warmth without feeling bulky beneath a shell.
At 380g (Medium), it is heavier than minimalist active-insulation layers, but the full-length zip, three zipped pockets, and close-fitting hood make it far more practical as a standalone fleece. The smooth outer face layers easily, while the stretch and regular fit allow comfortable movement without excess fabric.
Thumb loops improve coverage beneath gloves, and the low-profile hood sits neatly under a waterproof. It is warm for mild summer conditions, but the full zip provides effective ventilation when activity levels increase.
